Johan Oudinet. Search Engine Ranking. CSI Seminar 0617 May 2006
Search engines use Web page ranking to print faster results from users’ queries. The rank order deter-
mines the importance of Web pages.
Ranking algorithms are based on the hyperlink structure. The most popular of these algorithms is the
PageRank.
We explain how the PageRank algorithm works. Then, we present a new algorithm to rank faster, which
is almost as relevant as the PageRank algorithm.
